- Iron / ferritin (the evidence conflicts). The 2016 case-control study found significantly lower serum ferritin in young Indians with early greys [4]. The 2017 study, however, found serum ferritin and anaemia not significantly associated [3]. So ferritin is linked in some studies but not others.
The honest read: these are associations worth screening for, not proven causes you can fix to un-grey your hair. Ask your doctor about a B12, ferritin and thyroid check. And one thing to be very clear about: amla is not a meaningful source of vitamin B12, so it does not correct a B12 deficiency. - It may support hair strength and reduce hair fall (a different concern from greying). In a 16-week study, a six-herb blend that included amla increased dermal-papilla-cell activity and showed benefit in mild hair loss [Source: Yu et al., Evid Based Complement Alternat Med, 2017 — PMC5429933 / PMID 28539964].
